World NCD Action Forum · Who we are

Our Values.
Our Commitment.

Six interconnected values guiding our purpose, shaping our decisions and holding us accountable for the difference we make.

What guides us

Principles that lead to progress.

At the World NCD Action Forum, our values are more than principles. They are the foundation of our purpose, the guide to our decisions, and the standard by which we hold ourselves accountable.

We believe that healthcare progress must reach beyond scientific discovery and translate into meaningful improvements in people's lives.

Our six values follow a deliberate sequence. Each strengthens the next, connecting our purpose to our actions and ultimately to the impact we seek to create.

Our six values

One connected philosophy.

Choose a value to jump to it, or scroll to follow the thread from Equity to Impact.

01

Equity

Our Purpose · We begin with those who need us most.

Advances in healthcare should benefit everyone, regardless of geography, socioeconomic circumstances, or access to resources. Yet significant disparities persist in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. We exist to help close these gaps. Equity determines where we focus our attention, whose unmet needs we prioritize, and what challenges we choose to address.

Our commitment: We put equitable health outcomes at the centre of everything we do.

But pursuing the right purpose also requires doing things the right way.

02

Integrity

Our Foundation · We do what is right, always.

Our credibility depends on the integrity of our decisions, the independence of our scientific work, and the transparency of our relationships. We uphold scientific rigour, ethical conduct, objectivity, and accountability in everything we undertake. We will not compromise scientific independence or institutional principles for funding, influence, convenience, or recognition.

Our commitment: We protect scientific integrity, act transparently, and earn the trust placed in us.

But decisions are stronger when they reflect the experiences of those they affect.

03

Inclusion

Our Commitment to Every Voice · We ensure those affected have a voice.

Meaningful healthcare progress cannot be achieved when the people most affected by health challenges are excluded from decisions. We believe that patients, communities, healthcare professionals, and other relevant stakeholders must have opportunities to contribute to shaping priorities and solutions. Inclusion is not simply about representation. It is about ensuring that different perspectives genuinely influence decisions.

Our commitment: We make space for diverse perspectives, particularly the voices that are too often unheard.

But bringing voices together is only the beginning. Real progress requires collective effort.

04

Collaboration

Our Collective Strength · We achieve more together.

The challenges surrounding noncommunicable diseases are too complex for any single institution to solve. Governments, scientific societies, healthcare professionals, researchers, industry, patient communities, and civil society each bring capabilities essential to progress. We exist to connect these strengths, overcome fragmentation, and create shared responsibility for solutions.

Our commitment: We build purposeful partnerships around common goals, mutual respect, and shared accountability.

But collaboration has little meaning unless it leads to action.

05

Action

Our Responsibility · We turn commitments into progress.

Scientific discoveries, recommendations, policy discussions, and partnerships create possibilities. Meaningful change requires implementation. We move beyond dialogue to establish clear priorities, defined responsibilities, practical initiatives, and measurable commitments. We believe every meaningful discussion should create a pathway toward progress.

Our commitment: We translate knowledge and collective intent into tangible, accountable action.

But action alone is not success. What matters is the difference it makes.

06

Impact

Our Measure of Success · We measure the difference we make.

Our success is not defined by the number of meetings we organize, publications we produce, or partnerships we establish. It is defined by what changes because of our work. We strive for measurable improvements in healthcare access, implementation, capabilities, and ultimately people's health and lives. We measure progress, learn from outcomes, and remain accountable for both achievements and shortcomings.

Our commitment: We measure what matters and use what we learn to drive meaningful, sustainable improvement.

And every achievement brings us back to our first value: Equity. Who has benefited, and who is still being left behind?
